Mother’s Day is fast approaching and with many of us being faced with the daunting task of buying the ideal present, we thought we’d help by offering some wine suggestions, which will wow Mum more than a bunch of flowers from the local petrol station.
With every wine being unique, it is the perfect gift however picking the right one can be tricky. Our Buying Assistant, Kirsten Willis, gave us her advice on 3 wines which are sure to impress and can be enjoyed by the whole family this weekend.
Firstly, if you’re looking for a white wine we have the Rustler Chenin Blanc, Kirsten chose it because;
“This white wine is perfectly suited to afternoon drinking in the spring sunshine we have had over the past two weeks. Nice Crisp acidity, pear and green apple flavours. It is the ideal alternative for NZ Sauvignon Blanc lovers”
If you prefer red wine then Kirsten recommendation is the Pillastro Selezione d’oro
Puglia 2010;
“Customers that have discovered the Pillastro love it, so I thought the Pillastro Selezione d’oro would be the perfect choice. Instead of the grapes being 100% primitivo, this is a primitivo/negroamare blend. So it has the great flavours of the Pillastro but just has a bit more complexity about it. Something special for your Mother.”
Finally if you want to try something a bit different then the Abbesse de Loire Cremant Rose 2011 is the perfect choice;
“It’s pink and bubbly the perfect present for mother’s day! It is made in the traditional style, so has similar characteristics to that of champagne but just something a little different and exciting to try.”
Hopefully our suggestions have helped and we are sure there is the perfect present for every mother to enjoy above. If you have any questions or would like further recommendations then contact us on our Facebook or Twitter pages.
