Tony and Barbara on 50 years of Laithwaite’s Wine

It’s been 50 years since Tony travelled from Bordeaux to England with his first case of wine in tow.

Throughout September we’ve been celebrating our 50 year journey – from a tiny arch under the railway in Windsor, to the largest home delivery wine merchant in the world.

And what a year to celebrate, not only is it our 50th anniversary, we’ve also been named Online Retailer of the Year at the International Wine Challenge Awards. Tony’s even written a book, AND earlier this year the Queen awarded him a CBE for services to wine.

To hear about how all this happened watch the video below.

About Laithwaite's Wine

Laithwaite's began in 1969, when Tony Laithwaite took a job washing bottles in Bordeaux... and fell in love with real wine and the people who make it. When he borrowed a van to share these delicious wines with friends and neighbours at home, things went so well that boutique wineries were soon queuing to take part. Today we're the UK's No.1 home-delivery wine merchant, with over 1,500 wines to choose from... including red, white and rosé, plus Champagne and sparkling, beer and cider.
