Christmas wine cocktails

Will you be laying out the martini glasses and shaking a cocktail or two for the party season? We asked our wine buyers for some of their favourite party tipples, and here are Davy Zyw’s weapons of choice.

Aperol Spritz is super on trend right now – Prosecco, Soda, Orange, Aperol. It is bright orange in colour and drunk in vast quantities in Northern Italy, when I arrived at a bar in Verona in the summer I thought everyone was drinking Irn Bru,”

“Rebujito – Fino and Lemonade (half and half with lots of ice), EVERYONE was drinking this at a festival I went to in Jerez in September.” Make it with the Williams & Humbert NV and lemonade – in Jerez they prefer Sprite or 7UP,”

“Xmas Kir – combine Champagne and Sloe Gin. For next year, consider making your own sloe gin, which makes an excellent Christmas gift, if you’re generous enough to part with it!”

Davy’s final suggestion: “A Dark, Wet & Stormy – this twist on the traditional cocktail blends rum (try the Plantation Barbados Grande Réserve), ginger beer, a wedge of Lime and finished with a head of Drambuie.”

If you were only serving one cocktail at a Christmas party this year, what would you choose?
