Racing Cert

Yesterday was the second EOFY celebration for our Head Office in Theale…Someone had the bright idea of having ‘An Evening at the Races’ at Newbury Racecourse just down the road. It’s the perfect event for getting people back together. We had a meal in the restaurant with everyone mixed randomly on tables. No-one got left out.

Then we had this ex-jockey getting us all involved and betting on the Tote. Team building. And not too expensive…. If anyone’s thinking, we are a bit profligate. Our parties are not an indulgence, they are very, very necessary.

We have the best team in the wine business, but that word ‘team’ is key. We all have to play as one. As much as possible.

I loved hearing from a couple last night that they thought our lot work with such tremendous will – long hours when needed – because they know all those around them are doing the same. In order to get that re-assurance, you have to spend time together with everyone. Not just your own department. To lose that feeling would be disaster. So whilst we are very sympathetic to working from home – I mean, I love it myself – we must also meet up regularly to spark off each other. There was plenty sparking last night. So I left early…But I had my winnings; all 80p.

The Theale Party Wine List:

Pescadero Rock Pinot Noir (Red)
Coco Rotie (Red)
William Knuttel Chardonnay (White)
Kutjevo Grasevina (White)
Seraphin (Rosé)
 L’Epiphanie, Sauternes
