Laithwaites Festive Pours: When do you decorate your Christmas tree?

What do you think Christmas is all about?

Is it the big day itself? Sitting with family and friends around the dinner table, tucking into your favourite festive treats. Or is it something simpler? A feeling that grows as December progresses, starting with the first mince pie you eat and ending when the decorations get packed away?

Us wine nuts firmly believe it’s the latter. From the Laithwaites delivery arriving at your door, to Rioja-ing around the Christmas tree, right through to the wine filled Christmas parties, we think every moment is worth of savouring, just like our wines.

That’s why this year we’ll be celebrating Christmas all-month long, and sharing how we turn the smaller Christmas moments into an opportunity for a festive pour.

For us, the first weekend in December is when we put up our Christmas tree and other decorations, and what better way to celebrate the kick-off to Christmas than with a glass of fizz?

We’ve chosen Wyfold Vineyard Brut 2017 from Barbara Laithwaite’s two-hectare Oxfordshire estate.

And if you think English Sparkling Wine can’t be every bit as luxurious as Champagne, think again. This wine uses the same classic grapes that you’d find in Champagne, and follows the same traditional-method style of making fizz.

In fact, many of the greatest Champagne houses have been busy snapping up land in the UK, particularly in the south, where the climate creates the perfect growing conditions for the very best bubbly.
