Last night was the EOFY staff party at our warehouse, offices, and shop in Gloucester…and it was a good one. It needed to be; many haven’t seen each other for three years.
The party is a tradition going back to early days when it was always at our house. And through good times and bad we’ve always stuck to the tradition – until Covid – because it seems important to our having a strong team here.
Wine is all about celebrating and has been for 8000 years. Beer too. We had Abingdon Bridge and Primator last night. As well as Roche Lacour sparkling and Pink…
The Gloucester Party Wine List:
Pescadero Rock Pinot Noir (Red) |
Coco Rotie (Red) |
William Knuttel Chardonnay (White) |
Kutjevo Grasevina (White) |
Seraphin (Rosé) |
We had dodgems, silent disco dancing (you wear headphones), steel band…and a big barbecue.
Very minimal speeches (also the tradition) but we had to thank everyone…especially our heroic warehouse staff who defied Covid and kept turning up when the rest of us were sheltering at home.
They worked their socks off and the cases kept going out when everyone else had given up. So our MD Philippa thanked them. It was, briefly, quite emotional, I thought… and I realised why I’m still doing this at 76 and don’t intend to stop.
If you are ever passing Gloucester way, do call in at our place on Hurricane Way. It has an amazingly successful shop…and that’s down to…the people there.
